Sin’s Penalty: Death
When man chose to disobey God, he became guilty before God and suffered the resulting penalty: death (Genesis 5)
“For the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23a)
The basic meaning of death is separation. The Bible teaches that there are three types of death:
1. Spiritual death separated man from the life of God (Ephesians 2:1)
2. Physical death separates the soul from the body. (Hebrews 9:27)
3. Eternal death separates the person, both soul & body, from God forever in the
Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:15)
